Vocational Trainings Skills to enable independent living

This is a Professionally designed training, tailored to suit the capabilities of the trainees, provides the young women and men with the opportunity to receive training and a job placement to provide for themselves and their families.

Vocational Training & Skill Acquisition and Business Empowerment Program

Ministry of Giving (MoG) sponsors underprivilege and jobless individuals to acquire the trade skills in different vocational training programs such as tailoring, mechanic, bead-making, interior decoration, catering, baking, cosmetology, soap making, petty trading etc. And also offer them career guidance, counseling and MoG also help facilitate a micro startup funds for their business development through a soft loan from Microfinance bank when they finish their training. While the widows pay back the principal sums to the Bank in installments, MoG offsets the interests on the loans for the.Additionally, MoG gives “Concessional Business Grants” (CBG) to elderly widows, for their petty trading. However, these category of widows are not expected to pay back money given to them.

Project Aims:

  • To provide skills training to underprivileged women enabling them to earn an independent living and provide a sustainable pathway out of poverty.
  • To help adolescent boys and girls from the streets of underserved communities to receive suitable and comprehensive training, leading to a job with a reasonable salary.
  • To facilitate the provision of life-skills, vocational and technical training courses.
  • Offer support services to enable students to take part in courses, such as child care, nutrition and educational sponsorship.
  • To develop processes to enable women to contribute to the family income, through income generation projects and by developing self-help groups.
  • To develop self-confidence and individual potential.
